In accordance with our Heritage Bylaw, a building can be recognized as a Designated Heritage Property (protected) or as a Registered Historic Place (not protected). If you want to get a place formally recognized as a heritage property in PEI check first to see that it is not already listed on the PEI Register of Historic Places or the Canadian Register of Historic Places.
If it hasn’t been recognized, contact a heritage officer by phoning 902-432-1332. Applicants will need to complete a development application form.
