1) Industrial Electrical Technician (Full-time/Permanent)
Reporting to the Renewable Plant Production Supervisor, this position will be responsible to maintain solar, wind and battery storage infrastructure and work on components of renewable energy assets of the City of Summerside. This work will involve carrying out regular maintenance and keeping electrical instruments, equipment, and machinery in good condition and repair.
Duties will include:
- Testing demand and energy meters, installing new equipment, rearranging equipment, trouble shooting and repair of power and control circuits, electrical instruments and meters, rotating machinery, substation equipment, protective relays, lighting, and electronic equipment.
- Ability to work without direct supervisor. May supervise subordinates.
- Follow health and safety policies along with completing safety documentation.
- Prepare written reports and sketches as well as work from drawings and specifications.
- Keep working area tidy and in safe condition.
- Keep abreast of new developments and techniques in the electrical field as it pertains to this work.
- Participate in training programs as required.
- Willing to learn other job classifications within the Electrical Department.
Required Qualifications and Competencies:
- A valid Industrial Electrical Journeyman’s License from the Province of Prince Edward Island.
- A good working knowledge of renewable generating plants and equipment.
- Ability to install electrical equipment and instruments as required.
- Have an aptitude for trouble shooting and problem solving.
- Capable of working on live circuits up to 5000 volts and on higher voltage circuits when de-energized.
- Be of good character as well as good physical condition and mentally alert.
- Possess a valid Class 3A driver’s license.

2) Daytime Lifeguard(s), Community Services Department $14.95/Hour
The City of Summerside is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to work as Daytime Lifeguards within the Aquatics Department of our Community Services Division. Duties will include all aspects of supervising pool users and maintaining the Aquatic Centre at Credit Union Place. This position is required for morning and afternoon shifts.
Requirements:
-Current National Lifeguard Certificate
OR
-Willing to train with our Aquatics Manager in order to take a challenge exam for the Bronze Cross and then take part in the National Lifeguard Certificate Course in the new year.
-Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificate
Instructor certification would be considered an asset but is not required. Lifeguards must be in good physical condition, be of good character, have good communications skills, and be courteous to the public.
