Safe Water for All
We use chlorine to disinfect our drinking water. Injecting liquid hypochlorite into our water fulfills our regulated requirement for water disinfection set out by the PEI Department of Environment and ensures nobody becomes sick from drinking our water. Our computerized well control system ensures the wells only run if their chlorination systems are working properly.
Our water is analyzed on an ongoing basis for contaminates, nitrates, and bacteria to ensure that levels are safe as per Health Canada’s guidelines. We do not add fluoride to our city’s drinking water.
