Customers needing water turned on or off to their building must fill out the request form at the Finance Office on the first floor of City Hall. You must give the City a minimum of 2 working days notice for your water connection/disconnection to be scheduled. The current fees for water turn on and off are:
Water Turn Off:
- Free during working hours (7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday)
- After working hours or on weekends and holidays: $150.00 + HST
Water Turn On:
- During working hours (7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday): $38.46 + HST
- After working hours or on weekends and holidays: $150.00 + HST
Any applicable fees are added to your monthly utility bill.
If you have an emergency leak and need your water turned off during the daytime, please contact City Hall at 432-1230.
If your emergency leak happens after hours, please call 902-432-1268 and they will contact the on-call water system operator to assist you.
Tip: Turning your water off before going away on a long trip is a wise way to prevent a flood in case a pipe inside your house should break while you’re away.
