Honouring Baseball in PEI
As reported in a 2013 Journal Pioneer article Legends Field was named “to honour those who have made a significant contribution to baseball in the Summerside area” (August 30, 2013).
As part of the field’s name, in 2013 the Sports Heritage Committee Page helped to erect the Legends Field Monument to honours those influential to the game of baseball in Summerside on a bronze plaque. Every year, a ceremony is held to induct new names onto the monument.
2015 honourees:
- Coke Grady: player, coach, director, umpire
- Mike Cameron: board member of Summerside Area Baseball Association , coach, volunteer
- PEI Islanders: silver-medalists at 1977 Canadian senior baseball championship
