- 18kms of trails
- 21 acres of sports fields
- 29 acres of passive green space
- 230 acres of land in and around municipal buildings throughout the City
The planning division of our Technical Services Department carries out the City’s planning and development services to ensure a sustainable and healthy environment.
The following documents regulate land use and site-specific conditions such as setbacks from property lines, lot sizes, etc.:

- Subdivision/Site Development Bylaw (SS-19)
- Building Bylaw (CS-31)
The planning team is responsible for the City’s Heritage Bylaw (SS-20). Working with the Wyatt Heritage Group and the City of Summerside Heritage Committee, potential heritage homes are identified, researched, and, if the property owners approve, designated as heritage homes on the official heritage list.
