Our Response Team
In the event of an emergency, a call-out procedure is carried out, which ensures all members of the Emergency Response Team are able to quickly jump into their roles.
The Municipal Emergency Operations Executive notifies the Emergency Operations Centre Manager and from there, the Liaison Officer and Public Information Officer notify the Operations Chief, Planning Chief, Logistics Chief, and Finance & Admin Chief, who trigger a number of responses as laid out in the plan.
The City has two staff members designated for each position, and in the event of a prolonged emergency, those persons will rotate in and out of 12-hour shifts.
Our Emergency Response Team members have taken required training from the province’s Emergency Measures Organization. This training is made up of courses in a number of areas, including:
- Basic Emergency Management
- Emergency Operations Centre Management
- Emergency Public Information
- Incident Command Theory
