Summerside Today
Summerside is PEI’s second largest City and the principal municipality for the western part of the province. The City, according to the 2016 Census, has a population of nearly 15,000.
Municipal government

Our City is protected by the Summerside Police Department, the Summerside Fire Department, and the East Prince Detachment of the RCMP.
Education
Summerside has eight excellent schools, including:
- Four elementary schools
- Two junior high schools
- One senior high school
- One French school
We have a large Holland College presence in Summerside, which includes the following facilities:
- East Prince Centre
- Aerospace Centre
- Marine Training Centre
- Atlantic Police Academy
- Motive Power Centre
We’re also home to the College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts.

Health Care
Summerside’s Prince County Hospital is the main referral hospital in western PEI. Island EMS (Emergency Medical Services) has a base in the downtown area of the City from which it operates two Advanced Life Support ambulances 24/7.
Entertainment/Attractions
