Woman Arrested On 4 Theft Charges
At approximately 1:30pm on Friday afternoon, the Summerside Police received a call from the Loss Prevention Officer at the Superstore on Granville Street reporting a female had just stolen some merchandise and fled the area when she was approached by store staff.
Police attended the area and were able to identify the suspect, a 26 year old Summerside woman, with the help of the Loss Prevention Officer.
The store employee followed the suspect and saw her discard several other items which turned out to be stolen property from three other Granville Street area stores.
The suspect was not immediately located but was arrested by police at approximately 1:30 am Sunday morning when an officer on patrol observed her on Second Street.
She was held in custody and will be appearing before the court later today to answer to four charges of theft under five thousand dollars.
Man Arrested For Attempted Theft of Vehicle
At approximately 2:30 am Sunday morning, police were called to an Arcona Street residence where the resident reported someone was in his vehicle and had moved it out to the roadway.
Police attended and found 23 year old Donovan MacCaull in the vehicle. MacCaull was arrested for attempted theft of a motor vehicle along with mischief and theft under five thousand dollars.
MacCaull was taken before a Justice of the Peace later Sunday and was released. He will be appearing in court again at a later date.
Vehicle Stolen From Manson Court
The Summerside Police are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle from a Manson Court residence sometime overnight Saturday.
The vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, grey in color, was later located behind Holland College on Water Street.

Impaired Driver Arrested Sunday Afternoon
At approximately 5pm Sunday afternoon, the Summerside Police received a report of an impaired driver leaving the area of the Water Street Liquor Store.
The caller provided a description of the vehicle the man was driving and police located the vehicle on Granville Street.
The driver, a 53 year old Summerside man, showed signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene.
He later provided breath samples in excess of two and a half times the legal limit.
The man will be appearing in court at a later date to answer to impaired driving charges.
