Man Arrested For Weapons Offences After Pointing BB Gun At Passing Vehicles
At approximately 8:45 pm Tuesday evening, the Summerside Police received multiple reports of a man walking on South Drive pointing what appeared to be a rifle at passing vehicles.
Police immediately responded to the area in search of the suspect. One of the responding officers came upon the suspect who was in the process of pointing the gun at another vehicle.
The suspect then pointed the gun at the approaching police vehicle, seemingly unaware it was the police as he immediately lowered the gun upon appearing to recognize it was the police arriving at the scene.
The suspect obeyed the officer’s verbal commands and was taken safely into custody.
The suspect, a 27 year old Summerside man, remains in custody and will be appearing before the court today to answer to charges including 3 counts of pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
