Spend Time in Nature at a Park
We maintain over 130 acres of parkland area throughout the City, including 24 designated parks. These parks provide residents and visitors safe, well-maintained areas for a broad range of leisure and sporting activities.
City parks come in all sizes. The largest is Rotary Friendship Park at 53 acres, and the smallest is Loyalist Park at 1.3 acres. Most city parks are orientated to more passive uses, with the notable exception of Queen Elizabeth Park, which has been the site of numerous hosted baseball events that bring in many visitors and much prestige to the City.
City parks are classified into categories including:
- playgrounds
- outdoor sporting facilities
- passive parks (natural parks)
This section of our website focuses on the third category of park—the passive or natural park. These green spaces encourage tranquil reflection. Many include walking and/or cycling/skiing trails, gardens, benches, and open areas perfect for a picnic.
Explore these pages to read more about the natural parks in our City. Maybe you’ll be inspired to plan your next park day!
