Stroll Through the Past
Several years ago, the City of Summerside worked on the development of a Heritage Conservation Plan to ensure that the rich culture of the City would be preserved well into the future.
As a direct result of that plan, Summerside created a Heritage Bylaw and a Heritage District.
There are fifteen designated Heritage Homes in the City’s Heritage District (the Heritage District map is on page 19 of the Heritage Bylaw SS-20), and they include such well-known places as:
- City Hall
- Lefurgey Cultural Centre
- Summerside Courthouse
- Wyatt House
- MacNaught House
While you’re exploring these properties, keep in mind that there are a number of places of historic significance located outside the Heritage District.
