A Vital Part of the Police Department
When a resident dials 911 needing police assistance in the Summerside area, the call is forwarded to our dispatcher. Depending on the circumstances of the incident, the caller requiring assistance is forwarded to the appropriate officer to take whatever action is necessary. The dispatcher is responsible for starting and maintaining a report about the incident.
If a member on patrol needs a plate run, or other administrative support, they will call dispatch. The Department’s dispatchers have access to provincial and national databases to quickly provide detailed information to members.
Dispatch also often handles communications between patrol units.
We greatly value our dispatchers as they are a vital part of a well-functioning police department.
