
To read a Digital Meters please note that the screen does rotate through 2 views: Testing screen will display all 8s and then your usage will be displayed in kilowatt-hours (kWh). Write down the number you see for your usage.
Meter Number - Look for the bar code and the meter number will be either above or below it.
Mechanical meters may have 4 or 5 dials and both types are read
the same way. Each dial on the meter is
numbered from 0 – 9 and has a pointer that turns either clockwise or counter
clockwise.
To read your meter, read the dials in order from the right
and moving to the left. Write down the
numbers from right to left.
In most cases, the pointer will be between two numbers, in
which case the correct number to write down is the lesser of the two.

However, when the pointer appears to point directly at a number, use that number ONLY IF the pointer on the dial to the right has passed 0.
The illustration above, the pointer on dial B appears to be pointing directly at 4. As dial A has yet to pass 0, the correct number to write down is 3.
