Man Charged After Being Found Stealing From Vehicles
The Summerside Police Service has laid several charges against a 25 year old Summerside man after police found him stealing from vehicles in the area of the Meadow Heights subdivision.
Shortly after 1am Monday morning, officers on patrol in the MacMillan Avenue area noted a person inside of a vehicle parked in a residential driveway.
Police approached the man and were able to identify him as John Joseph Arsenault who is known to police.
Arsenault was known by police to not live at the residence where he was found and he was subsequently arrested for attempted theft from a motor vehicle.
Officers were then able to re-trace Arsenault’s whereabouts throughout the subdivision and were able to confirm several other theft related incidents.
Arsenault was held in custody overnight and was formally charged Monday morning with five counts of attempted theft from motor vehicles, one count of theft from a motor vehicle and 2 counts of trespassing by night.
Arsenault appeared in court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to the charges. He will be back in court in January for sentencing.
