Police Charge Two More Impaired Drivers On Weekend
Summerside Police charged two more impaired drivers over the weekend.
The first incident occurred Friday evening at approximately 10pm when police noticed the vehicle travelling the wrong way on a one way portion of First St.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 34 year old Miscouche area man, showed signs of impairment and was arrested.
He later provided breath samples in excess of the legal limit.
The second incident happened at approximately 12:30 am Sunday morning when police noted a vehicle on Duke St driving with no tail lights on.
The vehicle was stopped on Maple Ave. and the driver, a 24 year old West Prince woman, was taken into custody after failing a roadside screening device test.
She later provided breath samples that were twice the legal limit.
Both drivers will be appearing in court at a later date to answer to impaired driving related charges. Both drivers also had their vehicles impounded for 30 days.
In a third driving related incident at approximately 4am Monday morning, police observed a vehicle driving the wrong way on a one way street and stopped it on Fitzroy St.
The driver, a 38 year old Summerside man, was issued an administrative driving prohibition after a roadside test. He was also charged with driving with a suspended license and failing to produce insurance upon request of a police officer.
The vehicle was also impounded.
Man Caught On Video Stealing With Child Apprehended, Is In Canada Illegally
On April 11, 2018, the Summerside Police received a complaint from the Granville Street Liquor Store of a man having stolen merchandise. Video of the theft showed the man had a small child with him when the theft occurred.
Police released images of the man in hopes of discovering his identity.
Then, Sunday afternoon at approximately 3pm, police received information from a member of the public that the man was presently at the Summerside Superstore.
Police attended and located the man with the help of the witness.
The man, who has been identified as a 34 year old resident of the United States, was taken into custody. He will be charged with theft by the Summerside Police and also has outstanding matters with the Charlottetown Police and RCMP.
Police learned from the Canada Border Services Agency that the man has been in Canada, illegally, since 2016 and has an outstanding warrant in the U.S.
The man is presently in custody and will be appearing before the courts later today.
